New This Week:

Perdomo Bourbon Barrel-Aged Habano Connecticut!

The latest entry in Perdomo‘s newly revamped Habano series is this delicious variation which features an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and fillers: seco from Condega (aged for four years), viso from Jalapa (aged for five years), and ligero from Esteli (aged for six years). The finished cigars are then mellowed in white oak bourbon barrels for six months, which only adds to their appealing, creamy flavor. We carry four sizes: Robusto (5″ x 54), Epicure (6″ x 54), Churchill (7″ x 54) and Gordo (6″ x 60). Try one soon…these are fantastic!

Also New:

Oliva 2015 Serie V Maduro Especial!

This year’s annual from Oliva is a real knockout: the Serie V Maduro Double Toro (a 6″ x 60 whopper) is made even more delectable with the substitution of a spicy, high-priming San Andrés maduro wrapper for the Serie V’s standard sun-grown Colorado. The Nicaraguan fillers – which include high-octane Jalapa ligero – make for a rich, dark smoke that is definitely not for the faint of heart (especially in this stout size). Enjoy one while you can! Supplies are very limited, so get your hands on this tasty beast while we still have them!

Wasted Away Again Dept.:

CAO Margaritaville!

New from CAO is this tasty little item: the Margaritaville, inspired by (and presumably licensed from) Jimmy Buffett‘s expansive laissez-faire themed concern. In accordance with Parrothead standards, the Margaritaville cigar – a decent blend of Dominican fillers and binder within a Cameroon wrapper – is infused with the essence of Piña Colada. We’ve got the 4″ x 40 Petit Corona on the shelf at present, so if you’re still craving the taste of summer, put on your flipflops and head on over to ASWASAP!

With the Holidays bearing down on us, I thought it might be appropriate to talk about a pair of seasonal favorites that even the occasional pipe smoker can enjoy, blends with a pleasant aroma that will appeal to family and friends with whom you might be surrounded.

Two of our most popular Altadis bulk blends are Vanilla Custard andRum & Maple, both big on flavor and room note.

When I open the jar of Rum & Maple, I’m immediately thinking of Sunday morning breakfast with pancakes and syrup; the Cavendish blend is mild and pleasant on the palate and the maple topping actually comes through in the flavor profile, an attribute sorely lacking in many cased aromatic blends.

The Vanilla Custard shares many of the same qualities and is a bit milder on the tongue. The room note from both blends is heavenly and sure to be a crowd pleaser; just be careful that the family dog doesn’t try to eat your stash!

The Altadis family has been blending pipe tobaccos for decades and these two have been out-of-the-park home runs for many of our customers who keep coming back for more. Even if you don’t normally smoke aromatics, you owe yourself the opportunity to give one or both of these delicious blends a try.

A full five-pipe rating this week…and don’t forget, we’ve got plenty to offer if you’re looking for that perfect gift for the pipe smokers in your life.
