NEW THIS WEEK:

Casa Cuba by Arturo Fuente!

After a 3-year hiatus, Arturo Fuente‘s long-awaited Casa Cuba series has hit the shelves at last! This is a stellar blend of Dominican fillers and binder beneath an Ecuadorian wrapper, with a rich, full profile: hints of bourbon and caramel intertwined with an earthy bass note and a gentle, citrus-y tang (almost floral in its subtlety). Also worthy of note is the fact that the Fuente name appears nowhere on the band, an indication that this is indeed a unique release – Fuente’s first entirely new blend in 20 years, not to mention the first new blend by Carlos Fuente, Sr. himself in many years.  “I blended this cigar the way I used to blend Cuban tobacco,” he stated in a 2011 interview (an indication of just how long this cigar has been in the works). The line has been made available to only a few select retailers around the country, and we are fortunate enough to be one of them. We’ve got all four sizes in stock (the sizes derive their names from hands in Cuban dominoes): the 5″ x 50 Doble Cinco (robusto), a 5¼” x 44 Doble Tres (corona), a 6″ x 52 Doble Seis(toro), and a 4½” x 54 Doble Cuatro (gordito).

Stop in soon and get your hands on a Casa Cuba, because there’s no telling how long they’ll be around!

ALSO NEW:

Hoyo de Monterrey Edicion de Cumpleaños 150!

This new release from General Cigar is sure to be a fast-seller, too: The Edicion de Cumpleaños 150 by Hoyo de Monterrey, a limited edtion created as a tribute to the 150th anniversary of the Hoyo label. Constructed in Honduras of Nicaraguan fillers, Ecuadorian binder, and a proprietary habano shade wrapper (purportedly the first such ever grown in Esteli), it is available in one size only: a box-pressed 6″ x 54 toro. The habano wrapper is rich and oily with a bit of a rosado tinge; combined with its contents, the result is a rich, earthy/cedar smoke with spicy, peppery elements and a touch of fruity sweetness. A fitting tribute to a classic brand, and one that you’re sure to enjoy! Stop in and grab a couple of these while you can: only 4,000 boxes were produced, so supply is limited. Give it a try and celebrate the anniversary!

MORE NEW STUFF:

Esteli Lot 8613 by Nomad!

A great new release by Fred Rewey‘s Nomad Cigar Company, the Esteli Lot 8613 is an intriguing new twist on Nomad’s previous Esteli LE Lot 1386 release of 2013 (LE as in “limited edition”). Wrapper? Ecuadorian habano. Binder? Nicaraguan. Filler? Also Nicaraguan. Flavor? Exceptional. Our resident connoisseur Mico says: “A really pleasant, medium-bodied smoke with hints of chocolate and macadamia nut. A little peppery. Nice, even burn and a clean, white ash. You gonna like it.”

Mico has spoken! We’ve got 3 sizes in stock: Robusto (5″ × 50), Toro (6″ × 50), and Churchill (7″ × 48). Come get your mitts on an 8613 today and enjoy it right here on the premises. We also have great coffee! It urns high praise. (*rimshot*)

(Incidentally, the names of both this line and its precursor are a play on the geographical coordinates of Esteli, Nicaragua: approximately 13°N by 86°W.)

“We liked each other, we hated each other, and we respected each other…even though we hatched serious plots to murder each other.”
