Another selection from Matt Booth’s Room 101 is the Namakubi series, which derives its name from a rather gruesome tradition of the samurai: namakubi is the term for a severed head, presented by the triumphant warrior as a formal trophy to his feudal lord. (Thankfully, the cigar bears no resemblance to its namesake.) The blend features a mixture of Honduran and Dominican fillers, a proprietary Honduran binder, and a flavorful habano wrapper, resulting in a pleasantly woody flavor with a hint of pepper. This week’s cigar is the Namakubi Sucio (don’t ask what sucio means), a 7″ x 48 Churchill which has been aged to perfection in our climate-controlled humidor. Get these while you can! They’re truly a rare treat.
