The Montecristo White Series is famously enjoyable…a sturdy blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers finished with a Nicaraguan binder and a Connecticut Shade wrapper which imparts a mellow, creamy element to what might otherwise be a rather full-bodied cigar. This new extension of the White Series, the Vintage Connecticut, features two important departures from the standard White blend: the wrapper is Connecticut Shade which is actually grown in Connecticut, something of a rarity (these days, most Connecticut wrapper leaf is grown in Ecuador from Connecticut seed); also, the filler has been beefed up with a bit of Peruvian leaf for added dimension. This week’s C.O.W. is the Vintage Connecticut #2 belicoso, singled out at this year’s IPCPR trade show as a “must have” by Cigar Advisor magazine. A fine, complex smoke which starts out mild and works its way up the scale. Get your hands on some homegrown while you can…it won’t be around for very long at this price! |
