The Neya series is a very enjoyable entry in the Duran Cigars lineup, a fine blend of Nicaraguan fillers and binder encased in a delicious Ecuadorian Habano wrapper (grown at Finca Azan, Duran’s plantation in Ecuador); the F8 series features more ligero than the standard Neya blend, making for a more richly-flavored cigar with notes of cedar, roasted nuts, and a subtle fruity sweetness…a cigar which is not overly complex but entirely satisfying nonetheless.
It is worth mentioning that Duran has recently hired Cristano “Santo” Cardenas– a legendary master roller with 55 years of experience as one of Cuba’s key blenders – to oversee production at Nicatabaco S.A., Duran’s factory in Estelí. Cardenas has worked since 1960 for such Cuban luminaries as Montecristo,Rey del Mundo, and Partagas; of his involvement at Duran, Roberto P. himself says, “Having Santo on the team only ensures that our product will go beyond even my standards.”
